Mentoring

In a hurry to finish a project?
You don't know the technology?
No time for class?
Mentoring may be the answer.

Mentoring provides a means for working on a project and learning new skills at the same time. The skills learned are the same as those in the classroom, but the benefit to mentoring is that those skills are immediately put to use! The sessions take place in the real work environment so that all instruction is tied into the nuts and bolts of the student's application.

EXAMPLE:
A mid-sized university in Georgia needed a new database. Since there was only one database administrator, there was no need for an on-site class. However, the DBA had never worked with ORACLE and was uncertain how to set up and maintain the database. The university contracted with BCS to mentor the new DBA and build the database. In only a few visits the material that is covered in the DBA class was discussed and implemented in a hands-on real life situation. As a result of the engagement, two major tasks were accomplished: the DBA received the training he required and the university got their database.
