“Why Did We Select BOSSCARS? The technical team REALLY liked BOSSCARS because it ran on the
existing Banner infrastructure (no need for new servers!) and since it tightly integrated with Banner, redundant
data was not needed to allow the system to function. Rather than require person data to be periodically loaded
from Banner into BOSSCARS (as is the practice for systems that are disparate from Banner), BOSSCARS
queried Banner data real-time and as needed directly. The functional users (or “funkies” as they are
affectionately known) preferred the system over other systems because they felt the screens were simple to
navigate for various types of staff (parking clerks and officers), there was great flexibility in the type of business
rules that could be implemented, and Boss seemed to be a very accommodating vendor that was very
interested in helping us succeed. The system would also provide the benefit of posting charges directly to
student accounts as appropriate.”
